ABOUT THE CHARITY
Founded in 1998, this NGO’s mission is to aid in the teaching of Zambian children the importance of wildlife and their environment so they may be conserved for present and future generations. They achieve this utilizing both traditional and more modern, interactive methods. The Organization runs a Conservation Education Centre for the benefit of the local community, as well as assists in the provision of educational materials for dissemination in local schools and other institutes. They support and administer improvement projects in the local schools through material assistance and sponsorship of teachers and pupils. As well they welcome the wider community for the purposes of study, research and recreation in order to raise awareness of the urgent need for conservation in the area.
Additionally the Organization provides administrative and scientific assistance and support to persons and bodies having similar objectives to the Charity. They promote and encourage the protection and preservation of local flora and fauna through regulated anti-poaching work and liaise with both local and national statutory bodies. The NGO also provides a refuge for orphaned and injured wild animals with the aim of rehabilitating them to the wild when they are ready.
The Project will take place in 2 Project sites – the Classrooms as well as the Conservation Centre. The volunteer will document the work of the NGO within both their educational environment as well as contextually in the field. The material will be used to promote and create awareness of the NGO’s education and conservation work.
