ABOUT THE CHARITY
The organization we are working with on this project is located in Arequipa, Peru. They work directly with a community called Flora Tristan, a slum located at the outskirts of the city that lacks basic services such as running water, medical care and safe housing. Our partner is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by empowering the Flora Tristan families through holistic educational programs where people of all ages can advance their education, health, self-confidence and quality of life. The organization also runs a school with over 125 students and seeks to break the cycle of poverty by engaging community members at a young age.
The goal of this project is to promote this organization’s work in the community. The organization works on a small budget and does valuable work that other non-profits have been unable to achieve in a challenging and tough environment like Flora Tristan. At first received with skepticism, our partner is now seen as part of the community and wants to capture the change they are making with their unique school-run and extracurricular programs.
