ABOUT THE charity

Founded in 1996 this NGO's mission is to include disability issues in mainstream development to enable persons with disabilities to obtain equal opportunities and full participation. Their vision is that persons with disabilities will enjoy equal opportunities and full participation in all spheres of life.

PROJECT DETAILS

The focus of this project will be documenting various initiatives, including but not limited to home-based rehabilitation initiatives, visits with partner organizations, community rehabilitation centres, disability self-help groups, disaster preparedness initiatives, assistive devices workshops, and meetings with government officials.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Experience in photo-documentary or photojournalism

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Ability to thrive with a busy travel and work schedule with domestic flights and buses

  • Storytelling - Must submit a minimum of one (1) original article 800-1000 words upon completion of the project, to complement the images/footage of this assignment.

  • Adaptable to new and different situations, flexible and patient

 Desirable

  • Some interest in or knowledge of disability rights issues

  • Experience in overseas development

  • Experience travelling abroad in developing nations
