ABOUT THE CHARITY
Founded in 2005, this NGO’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty and begging by providing love, support, education and other opportunities to former street children and their families in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The organization was originally founded to educate street children and provide them with vocational training, work experience and extra-curricular activities. Since then, the organization has expanded to include several community outreach programs that cover employment opportunities, social services and health care. One of their key initiatives is to break the cycle of poverty by supporting mothers, aunts and sisters, many of whom suffer from disabilities, addiction and abuse, by teaching them to convert trash into beautiful and saleable items while also providing basic literacy and math skills.
The focus will be the documentation of this NGO’s work in their 4 main sites. These include:
Centre Hub which acts as a community centre for school, extra-curricular activities and meals
Organic farm where they grow the vegetables, fruit, rice and raise chickens that help feed the community
Wellness Centre, the holistic health centre that offers affordable dentistry and access to alternative therapies and counseling. It also houses one of Cambodia’s first drop-in centres for LGBTQI youth.
Enterprise workshop, a safe and happy environment for women to learn basic skills and earn income by collecting, washing, and converting trash into beautiful household and fashion items.
