Photography and video are invaluable ways of communicating messages, sharing perspectives, fostering cross-cultural understanding, and inspiring others. That's why PWB partners with grassroots organizations worldwide that make a significant impact on a small budget, in areas like healthcare, education, conservation, human rights, sustainability and innovation. The voices of grassroots organizations are more crucial now more than ever as we see many top-downprojects failing.
How does the PWB Program work?
Storytellers are regularly selected from our applicants through a competitive process. Everyone is reviewed and those selected as official PWB photographers or videographers partake in unique, once-in-a-lifetime volunteer experiences to document the incredible grassroots causes that we champion. Our partner organisations use the images and video for their own educational, communications and storytelling purposes while PWB uses our platform to share these stories with the world through our web series, magazine, blog, website, exhibits, publications, and more).
Photographs and videos from our program go on to be featured in our magazine, exhibits, blog, and various other publications including the Huffington Post, Huffington Post Travel, CBC, Rangefinder, National Geographic, The Economist, SLR Lounge, the UN-HABITAT 2013 Handbook, Guttenberg Press, Alternavox, Photo Life, Hart House Camera Club and many others.
