NGO’s mission is to promote human civil and political rights and rule of law in Kazakhstan. NGO’s goal is: Human Rights Defenders protection as now NGO works on 4 projects: 

  • UN OHCHR (3 freedoms: peaceful assembly, expression, association; project concern to improve potential of civil society).  

  • Soros Foundation (NGO has created mobile app, it is free, with 3 main functions: free legal assistance, search of human rights defenders and sign of petitions). 

  • People in Need (psychological rehabilitation for women human rights defenders in Central Asia; trainings to women and psychologists). 

  • Sigrid Rausing Trust (institutional support: monitoring of court’s session, fast reaction group, insurance for human rights defenders, etc.). 

  • Also NGO works on prevention of tortures and migrant’s rights.


The Project will take place in 2 Project sites, NGO will organize an annual conference for Human Rights Defenders with participants from 4 countries of Central Asia whom you will have an opportunity to meet. You will be visiting UN and partners’ offices, 2 places for peaceful assembly, office of bar association and journalist’s point. You will have a chance to work with 2 victims of torture, capture the area near detention facilities where were tortured people. The material will be used during the public campaigns, in a new draft of law on freedom of assembly and association, freedom of expression and HRD’s rights, website, Facebook and Instagram posts



  • Proficiency in photo-documentary and photojournalism (experience in videography is an asset) 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, especially with vulnerable people. 

  • Adaptable to new and different situations, flexible and patient. 

  • Respect to cultural sensitivity.


  • Experience travelling abroad in developing nations
