ABOUT our community partner

Established in 2005, this NGO’s mission is to nurture transformative leadership in girls and young women from underserved backgrounds to meet the urgent need for more African women in leadership. Their goals include: to bridge barriers of access to financial resources for girls and young women which bar them from accessing opportunities; to equip girls and young women with the internal resources, personal support and experiential learning needed to lead; to amplify the voices of girls and young women in their communities by creating spaces for them to champion their issues; to facilitate the space and opportunities for girls and young women to effectively champion their issues.

assignment DETAILS

You will participate in an orientation session upon your arrival to the organization’s project site. You will join the organization’s staff for a Leadership Activity, as well as visit several Alumnae and Scholar sites. The organization will use photography to showcase the contribution and impact of girl and young women’s leadership. The materials will help them raise allies and supporters of their work, while debunking what myths and misconceptions around what girls and women’s contribution to the continent’s development. The images will also be used for their publications (including annual reports and profiles, communication materials, social media, print and digital platforms).

QUALIFICATIONS

 Desirable

  • Experience in overseas development and travelling in developing nations 

Essential

  • Proficient in photo-documentary/photojournalism

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
