Founded in 2009, this NGO’s mission is to nurture, empower and transform local youth to be self-reliant. Their goals are to support local vulnerable children to access and excel in their education, to equip local youth and women with effective knowledge and skills to enable them to secure employment or start their businesses, and to support local communities to improve sanitation and water access.

assignment DETAILS

The focus of this project will be documenting this NGO’s work based in various sites in the rural area surrounding Nairobi. It will involve documenting youth leadership training initiatives in various communities. These initiatives involve empowering local marginalized young people through knowledge and skills transfer as well as economic development. The incumbent will assist with taking photos during training sessions as well as taking photos of various economic activities carried out by local young people.



  • Experience in overseas development

  • Experience travelling abroad in developing nations


  • Experience in photo-documentary or photojournalism

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Proficiency in English communication

  • Adaptable to new and different situations, flexible and patient

  • Storytelling - Must submit a minimum of one (1) original article 800-1000 words upon completion of the project, to complement the images/footage of this assignment.
