ABOUT our community partner
Founded in 2000, this NGO’s mission is to champion and lobby for the rights and needs of the welfare of orphans, youth and widows through advocacy for their role in the implementation of sustainable developmental programs in the community. They have programs in education, nutrition, health care, food security, environmental sustainability, capacity building, peace-building and violence prevention, human rights, self-governance, and entrepreneurship.
assignment DETAILS
The focus will be documenting this NGO’s work based in various project sites in rural Kenya. Specifically, the incumbent will document students in education programs, document workers in entrepreneurship and vocational programs, capture photos of local people and document their stories, document refurbished products being sold in local markets, and document an inter-school sports day.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
Experience in photo-documentary or photojournalism
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Adaptable to new and different situations, flexible and patient
Storytelling - Must submit a minimum of one (1) original article of 500-750 words, written in third-person, upon completion of the project, to complement the images of this assignment.
Mandatory completion of PWB Ethical Storytelling Certification prior to Assignment start date (Included in Assignment Cost)
Desirable
Experience in overseas development
Experience travelling abroad in developing nations
