ABOUT THE ngo
Established in 2004, this organization’s mission is to activate social solidarity, agriculture, technology, environmental sustainability to turn the tides against the effects of HIV/AIDS on the people of Asembo. Their main goals include: eradicating illiteracy and ignorance of health through education; increasing food production and income through sustainable agriculture; improving the health of the community members in both preventative and curative measure; empowering women and youth with emphasis on girl-child.

Upon arrival at Kisumu, the Associate will be introduced to the organization’s staff and volunteers. He/she will be provided with project orientation, and visit several projects sites, such as: seamstresses and cultural project, the fishermen project, primary and secondary schools around the Manyatta Slum, women and youth project, farms/microfinance project.
The images will be used for social media, donors/supporters materials, website.
During the project, the Associate will be required to organize a workshop for the NGO’s team on photography and storytelling.
Experience in overseas development and travelling abroad in developing nations
Storytelling - Must submit a minimum of one (1) original article, 800-1000 words upon completion of the project, to complement the images/footage of this assignment.
Proficient in photo-documentary/photojournalism
Teaching/workshop facilitator skills – PWB CAMERA PROGRAM PROJECT!
Experience using editing software (Photoshop, InDesign)
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Adaptable to new and different situations, flexible and patient
Respect to cultural sensitivity
