ABOUT THE PARTNER PROJECT
Established in 2000, this NGO’s mission is to contribute to city-wide climate resilience through awakening the potential in un-and-under-employed township youth by helping them to find their strengths, growing their personal resilience and connecting them to the resilience economy. This organization runs a 19 weeks accredited skills program that builds climate resilience skills in unemployed youth and connects them to work opportunities.
Upon arrival in Cape Town, the photographer will be introduced to the NGO’s team. He/she will meet with their Operations Manager the following day for orientation and discussion on the project. During the project, the photographer is also scheduled to visit several project sites, interview community members, photograph the NGO’s team and their program participants, as well as alumni students. The photos will be used for the NGO’s website and reports, as well as presentations for their partner NGOs. They would also like to use the images for their case studies.
Proficient in photo-documentary/photojournalism (and videography)
Experience using editing software (Photoshop, InDesign)
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Storytelling - Must submit a minimum of one (1) article 800-1000 words upon completion of the project, to complement the images/footage of this assignment.
Adaptable to new and different situations, flexible and patient
Experience in overseas development
Note: As per the NGO, you should expect approximately $150 out of pocket expenses based on your food and recreational preferences.
