ABOUT THE charity
Founded in 2005, this organization’s mission is to create a society that consciously works towards the continued improvement of their environment and the promotion of a green, clean and healthy Suriname. This organization creates public awareness about environmental issues, trains young scientists and researchers, promotes sustainable development and conservation initiatives, and conducts environmental research to inform initiatives.
The focus will be documenting this NGO’s work based in various project sites. In particular, images will be used to promote environmental awareness among the public (eg. the need to use less packaging, not to engage in the trade of wild animals, not to disturb animals in the wild); for training tour operators on sustainable vs. unsustainable tourism practices; and to raise awareness about the proper procedures for handling wild animals when they turn up in unwanted locations. As well, the incumbent will be required to document any other events, trainings, and initiatives that the NGO requires during this time.
