ABOUT THE CHARITY

This NGO was established in 2008 as a community based organization supporting marginalized groups of people, especially rural women and children in Uganda who were victims of rape and sexual violence.  Since then, they have expanded their services and now provide the training and necessary resources that allow rural women and girls to achieve their full socio-economic and civic potential through education and opportunity.

PROJECT DETAILS

This NGO offers a broad range of services and programs both directly to community as well as to community leaders who wish to become educators themselves. The programs include:

  • Girls/Women Economic and Social Strengthening which focuses not only on educating on food security and basic nutrition, but also on establishing a women-led agricultural chain where women are part of the production and economic lifecycle.

  • Health and Care programs that aim to improve the general health of the community by advocating access to clean water through wells. They also educate local healthcare resources who in turn, can then deliver sexual, reproductive, maternal child health, HIV/AIDS and Nutrition programs to the broader community.

  • Education, Vocational, and Life Skills Training advocates for quality education for vulnerable children.  Children who are not in school can attend skills training centres where they learn trades.

  • Climate Change Resilience and Adaption is a program that promotes environmental conservation and saving natural resources through careful management.

  • Justice, Free from Violence and Advocacy and Learning.  Rape Hurts runs a Rape Help Crisis Centre and offers help, support, shelter and legal aid for victims of rape and sexual abuse.
