Deedee Morris is an awe-inspiring photographer whose work (deedeemorris.com) is not only beautifully raw, but is also incredibly honest. She dives in deep with her subjects, getting to know them on a personal and spiritual level, and is then able to capture a single moment that portrays their vulnerable individuality in stunning ways. Her work celebrates family, motherhood, self-understanding, and love of the natural world, all of which are outward expressions of her own values and ambitions. Deedee’s pursuit of authenticity is a rare and powerful experience.

Featured in Lemonade and Lenses, Wild Woman Magazine, Feels Zine, and multiple other prints, she has also showed her work in galleries across Canada. She lives on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia with her husband and twin girls.

1. What motivates you to dedicate your time for this cause?

Having focused my career on telling people's stories through portrait and family photography for almost ten years, I have seen the power of having your story being seen and heard. I see this as a continued opportunity to use my lens to help people tell their story.

2. How do you believe your photography can make a difference for them?

I have seen first hand many times what happens when people feel seen. Photography helps to tell a story but it also validates a person's story when they see themselves in the images. It can cause shifts within people to see themselves, sometimes for the first time. It can also bring hope to what can sometimes feel like a hopeless situation. The difference is in listening and the seeing and the portraying of the story the people tell. We as photographers make visible what feels invisible.

3. What message would you like to send to your supporters?

I would like to send my sponsors a heartfelt thank you for trusting in me to tell the story that needs to be told. For supporting me in the endeavor to witness and make visible the invisible stories all around us.
