We invite you to join us as we explore what “storytelling for change” really looks like. With different screenings, workshops and events happening each month, there’s always something to dive into.
STORYTELLING FOR CHANGE
NEXT SESSION:
Wednesday, February 4 @ 12:00 PM ET
Join us for the next session of Storytelling for Change with Eman Mohammed, a Palestinian photojournalist and writer from Gaza whose work confronts the realities of occupation and genocide through intimate, long-term storytelling. A Senior TED Fellow, Eman centers Indigenous communities resisting erasure, using photography and written journalism as both evidence and witness.
This session examines how visual storytelling can move beyond the extractive frameworks often present in humanitarian, development, and NGO contexts. Drawing from examples in Gaza, the United States, and other communities facing systemic oppression, Eman will share how storytellers can work in ways that respect agency, avoid exploitation, and challenge savior narratives.
Participants will engage with practical approaches to ethical image-making, including building trust with communities, navigating trauma with care, and reframing stories to confront—rather than reinforce—colonial power dynamics.
