Sophie Otiende (she/her)
Sophie has worked in the development sector for more than ten years, mainly doing protection work for vulnerable groups and in the past few years focusing specifically on human trafficking as a survivor leader. She started out as a grassroots community mobiliser in Nairobi, working with young mothers with children with disability to help them access services, and went on to become the CEO of a major anti-human trafficking institution. She is the Founder of Azadi Kenya, which is a survivor-led, counter-trafficking NGO that focuses on the provision of long-term support for survivors of trafficking who, too often, find a lack of community support and understanding when reintegrating into society ensuing their experience with trafficking.
