This NGO is a registered Nicaraguan and Canadian Charity with the simple, ambitious mission of ‘Making Educational Possible’ for all children in Nicaragua and the world.
In Nicaragua, only 56% of children are able to graduate from the 6th grade. This NGO’s vision is to see all children in school and finishing their primary education. They have simple, cost-effective programs to empower children to go to school and stay in school.

assignment DETAILS

The photographer will meet the NGO’s staff, photograph students, teachers, and community. He/she will also document delivery of school supply packages to partner school in Managua/Masaya area. As well, he/she will visit a school in mid-construction and photograph the construction crew at work and community volunteers, along with international volunteers. The photographer will also visit Leon area, and photograph teachers and ask about their stories and struggles. The NGO would like to use the photos for fundraising purposes, as well their impact reports, and social media.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Desirable

  • Experience in overseas development and travelling in developing nations

  • Basic Spanish


Essential

  • Proficient in photo-documentary/photojournalism Experience using editing software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Open to new experiences

  • Storytelling - Must submit a minimum of one (1) original article of 500-750 words, written in third-person, upon completion of the project, to complement the images of this assignment.  

  • Mandatory completion of PWB Ethical Storytelling Certification prior to Assignment start date (Included in Assignment Cost)
