CHANGE THE STORY, CHANGE THE SYSTEM
OUR IMPACT
Here at Photographers Without Borders, we fund stories that create change. We partner with different global grassroots non-profits and initiatives (community partners) that allow us to pour resources into our communities to make a tangible impact. Collectively we have raised over $500,000 to support storytelling projects championing important causes, particularly in the area of intersectional climate change and conservation.
REVOLUTIONARY STORYTELLER PROGRAM
We are cultivating cultural changemakers through financial support, mentorship, and fostering a global solidarity network. In tandem with our community partners, Photographers Without Borders awards a sum of $5000 each to several Revolutionary Storytellers alongside powerful capacity development and training sessions. This program has powerful stories, giving life to voices that really matter.

NITASHIA JOHNSON
Nitashia Johnson is a Nigerian-American, multimedia artist and educator from Dallas, Texas and is one of our Revolutionary Storyteller Grantees. Her documentation project, titled "The Faces That Face," showcases the beauty of her West Dallas community, and the impactful work done by Singleton United/Unidos—”an empowering group dedicated to raising awareness about pollution risks in the community.” This story was produced in partnership with the Pulitzer Center, Diversify Photo, and Photographers Without Borders.
TATIANA LOPEZ
Tatiana is an Ecuadorian photographer, multidisciplinary artist, and visual anthropologist whose work focuses on themes of identity and belonging, the body as a medium of expression, and the interconnectedness between humans and nature. Tatiana is one of our Revolutionary Storyteller Grantees.
Her project “Blooming Women”, created with the financial support of Photographers Without Borders, was featured in the Guardian, Photo Vogue, and Revisions. Tatiana also funded the completion of a gathering house and medicine house for the community (over $15k raised).
COMMUNITY
Together, we’ve built a thriving global community of over 1,500 members, connected by a shared belief in the power of ethical, intentional storytelling.
GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
Every month, Photographers Without Borders awards $500 Micro-Grants to our community members that highlight stories in land and water protection, Indigenous science and wisdom, climate change, regeneration, and everything intersecting in between including human rights, Indigenous sovereignty, land back, and more.
EDUCATION
Storytelling School is more than a workshop — it’s a journey into what it means to tell stories that heal, empower, and protect. Through our Storytelling School, we’ve trained more than 1,100 storytellers in ethical and impact-focused practices, hosting over 50 in-person workshops across the globe and engaging over 300 participants in our Impact Storytelling programs. Our virtual Storytelling Summits have brought together more than 1,500 participants, fostering dialogue and learning across continents.
